Abortion issue has little effect on Catholic vote?

Fr. Greely contends that voters views on abortion have really no effect on who they vote for. Citing research of the 2000 election it seems it did not have much of an effect. Maybe true, but I remember reading about the abortion issue making a difference in some 2002 Senate races. I will post some information soon on this.
